SKAL International Canceled World Congress 2023 in Quebec

It’s time for SKAL members to find a replacement venue for the SKAL 2023 Congress.
SKAL is about friendship after all.

Skål International holds an annual World Congress each year in a different country. In 2021 this Congress was awarded to Quebec City in Canada.

Due to COVID and the many travel restrictions, the SKAL International Congress planned for 9-13 December 2021 was canceled.

SKAL assured members in 2021 and again today, the beautiful city of Quebec will always be delighted to welcome you and requested to be allowed to host the 2023 Congress.

This request was made official and approved at the congress in Croatia last year.

More than 12313 members do business among friends throughout more than 308 Skål Clubs in 86 countries.

Many were getting ready and some already sent a deposit to attend the SKAL International Congress by SKAL Canada in Quebec for December 2023. This deposit will now be refunded.

SKAL Congress 2023 canceled

Today this message was circulated to SKAL Members:

“It is with a heavy heart that our club SKAL International de Quebec must withdraw as host for the International Congress initially planned for December 2023. “

“The cancellation is due to the high costs of hosting the event, and therefore high registration fees, resulting in low participation according to a survey conducted by SKAL.”

It’s odd SKAL Quebec in Canada is giving up after one survey concluded 8-9 months before the planned event.

It’s not clear what city will step in, if any to make the SKAL Congress 2023 a reality.

Skal International is a dying association thats clearly showed with declining membership numbers. The main problem Skal International has is a few long serving members who can be very vicious and discriminatory against members as I experienced in 2020, The Spanish court found in my favour stating that the association did not follow it’s own rules.
