MSC Cruises Seeks to Recruit 200 Workers in Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts (the Ministry) supports MSC Cruises in collaboration with Meridian Recruitment Agency Ltd. as they seek to recruit 200 suitably qualified nationals to be a part of the MSC Cruises team.

The Meridian Recruitment Agency will be leading the recruitment initiative to fill vacancies in the areas of Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Entertainment, Guest Services and Galley Jobs on behalf of MSC Cruises.

The Ministry remains committed to fulfilling its mandate of working with industry stakeholders to boost economic recovery and create employment opportunities within the tourism sector for citizens.

This recruitment drive follows the successful completion of the Royal Caribbean Group’s (RCG) Seafarer Recruitment Initiative held last year. As a result of in-person and virtual interviews conducted by the RCG team, close to 1000 applicants were offered jobs in a wide range of categories that span from entry level up to managerial. Trinidad and Tobago citizens are now employed on Royal Caribbean ships in areas including Medicine, Bar Utility, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Restaurant and Guest and Hospitality Services.

Similarly, citizens with varying levels of experience and training in tourism and hospitality services and food and beverage management will have an opportunity to explore new employment prospects through working with MSC Cruises.

MSC Cruises started discussions about recruiting Trinidad and Tobago citizens with Ministry representatives during the 2022 Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) and Seatrade Cruise Conferences in Miami and Puerto Rico and is now seeking to capitalize on the opportunity.

The Ministry’s overall aim is to ensure that persons who do not have jobs gain meaningful employment. Given the need for jobs, the Ministry continues to further talks with other cruise lines to ensure that even more citizens benefit from these opportunities.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts is encouraged by the confidence placed in the capacity and professionalism of Trinidad and Tobago citizens.

MSC Cruises, like a number of other cruise lines, view Trinidad and Tobago citizens as “a magnificent asset of hospitality and marine professionals”.

This recruitment exercise follows an exciting 2022/2023 Cruise Season that saw an estimated 29 cruise calls by several cruise lines, including MSC Cruises, to Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell says “As the cruise calls and interest in Trinidad and Tobago continue to grow, we are eager to bring our Trinbagonian energy and professionalism to the high seas. I look forward to many more cruise lines looking towards Trinidad and Tobago as a base for high-quality hires.”
